This would cost $1.1 billion.

This month, after Nancy Pelosi went to the democratically run island, China held its biggest war games there. Beijing hasn’t said for sure that it won’t use force to take over the island.

On Monday, China said that Taiwan’s claims that drones were being used to harass Taiwanese-controlled islands were “nothing to make a fuss about.” This led Taipei to call Beijing a thief.

Help from the US to Taiwan
Reuters reported last week that there are things in Taiwan’s approval process that could be announced in the coming weeks or months. Both President Joe Biden’s administration and American politicians have stressed that they will continue to support the Taipei government.

Three sources who did not want to be named because of the nature of the situation said that the focus will instead be on keeping Taiwan’s current military systems running and carrying out orders, rather than adding new capabilities that are more likely to make already tense relations with China worse.

The White House did not respond right away when asked for a response to the Politico report.

Donald Trump claims that the FBI is “under siege” and “raiding” his Florida home. https://nyfeature.com/national/donald-trump-claims-that-the-fbi-is-under-siege-and-raiding-his-florida-home/ https://nyfeature.com/national/donald-trump-claims-that-the-fbi-is-under-siege-and-raiding-his-florida-home/#respond Tue, 09 Aug 2022 17:03:05 +0000 https://nyfeature.com/?p=871 The search of his Mar-a-Lago home by the FBI was called “prosecutorial malfeasance” by former US president Donald Trump.
Trump wouldn’t say why federal officials were coming to his house, which made Trump’s legal problems worse.

Multiple US news sites said that people close to the investigation said that investigators were searching Mar-a-Lago for secret documents that were mishandled. Trump said on Truth Social that FBI investigators are surrounding his “beautiful home” at Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

Photos taken from above showed police cars in front of Mar-a-Lago. Outside, people who backed Trump waved banners and flags with his face on them. The New York Times says that Trump said, “It’s prosecutorial misconduct, it’s using the justice system as a weapon, and it’s an attack by far-left Democrats.”

“This could only happen in a country in the Third World. “The United States is now one of those countries,” he said. “My safe was broken into!”” Top Republicans said that the raid was wrong and that the Justice Department was going too far.

In February, the National Archives said that it had found 15 boxes of records at Trump’s Florida estate. The Washington Post said that some of the records were very sensitive writings. The papers and mementos, such as Obama’s letters, should have been given back after Trump’s time in office, but they ended up at Mar-a-Lago instead.

After the boxes were found, people started to wonder if Trump was following the rules about presidential records that were put in place after Watergate. These rules say that whoever is in the Oval Office must keep administrative records.

The Archives asked that Trump’s actions be looked at.

‘Accountable’

A new book by Maggie Haberman says that White House staff thought Trump was trying to get rid of records because he put wads of paper in the toilets.

Since his last trip on Air Force One from Washington to Florida on January 20, 2018, Trump has stayed the most controversial person in the country and spread rumours that he won the 2020 election.

Congress has spent weeks hearing about how Trump supporters broke into the Capitol on January 6 and how he tried to overturn the election.

The attack on January 6 is also being looked into by the Justice Department.

Merrick Garland hasn’t said anything about rumours that Trump could be charged with a crime, but he has said that “no one is above the law” and that he will “hold criminally involved people who tried to overturn a valid election accountable.”

Trump is also being looked into for trying to change the results of the 2020 election in Georgia. Both civil and criminal cases are being opened in New York to look into his business dealings.

The real estate tycoon has given a lot of hints that he might run for president in 2024.

Trump seems sure that he can ride the Republican wave to the White House in 2024. Biden has a favorability rating of less than 40%, and in November, Democrats are expected to lose control of Congress.

Knott’s Berry Farm must close early due to several fights https://nyfeature.com/national/knotts-berry-farm-must-close-early-due-to-several-fights/ https://nyfeature.com/national/knotts-berry-farm-must-close-early-due-to-several-fights/#respond Sun, 17 Jul 2022 16:42:49 +0000 https://nyfeature.com/?p=803 Multiple fights broke out at Knott’s Berry Farm on Saturday night, which forced the park to close earlier than usual.

After looking into the area, the police officers who responded to the several calls to 911 that said gunshots were heard in Buena Park decided that none had been fired. During the time that the police were looking into what happened, they asked people to stay away from the area. The amusement park put out a statement saying that “We always put the safety of Knott’s Berry Farm’s guests and employees first.

On Saturday night, the park was closed three hours early because a number of teens were acting out and getting into fights. The park was closed by several adults, which led to this decision. This wasn’t in line with what our park stands for, and it’s not the kind of thing we want our guests to experience when they come to Knott’s Berry Farm.

Posts on social media say that customers who heard rumours of a shooting ran out of the place in fear. One park visitor said on Facebook that there was a fight when everyone was trying to get out of the building at the same time. “Everyone started shouting all at once, and then they all ran. We left through a door only employees could use.

According to US media, numerous people were shot at the Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois. https://nyfeature.com/national/according-to-us-media-numerous-people-were-shot-at-the-fourth-of-july-parade-in-highland-park-illinois/ https://nyfeature.com/national/according-to-us-media-numerous-people-were-shot-at-the-fourth-of-july-parade-in-highland-park-illinois/#respond Mon, 04 Jul 2022 17:34:31 +0000 https://nyfeature.com/?p=690 When shooting broke out near a Fourth of July parade in a suburb of Chicago, several people were hurt or killed, according to reports. People in the area say that just a few minutes after the celebrations started, a shooter on the roof of a store opened fire on the parade below.
People at a parade in the wealthy suburb of Highland Park ran away in fear when gunfire broke out, as seen in a video that has been shared on social media. Many families can be seen standing together on the sidewalk to watch the parade. As the scene cuts to the next frame, a voice in the distance can be heard yelling “gunshots.” The people can then be seen jumping up from the ground and running away.

On its official Facebook page, the city of Highland Park said that the celebrations were cancelled because police were dealing with a “incident” in the neighbourhood at the time. “The Highland Park Police Department is now on its way to a downtown area where something has happened. On July 4, there won’t be any parties or celebrations. Please stay away from Highland Park’s downtown. If you are in downtown HP, find a safe place to stay. As new information comes in, we’ll keep putting out what we already have.” Please read the message.

At this time, it is not known how many people have been hurt or if anyone has died because of what happened.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the shooting happened “in the general area of the Independence Day parade route.”
