Transfer of power will take place at Balmoral, rather than London’s Buckingham Palace for the first time in Queen Elizabeth’s seventieth year as monarch. The move of the ceremony prompted rumours about the health of the 96-year-old Queen.

On the next day, the 172,000 members of the British Conservative Party voted Liz Truss as their new leader after a close race against former chancellor Rishi Sunak, who is of Indian heritage.

Earlier today, the Queen “met in Audience The Right Honourable Elizabeth Truss MP and requested her to establish a new Administration,” according to a statement released by Buckingham Palace.

Ms. Truss accepted Her Majesty’s invitation and kissed hands upon her appointment as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury, according to the release.

Truss promised to deliver in her victory speech on Monday, as the country faces major challenges on these fronts, especially as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the Covid epidemic. The economic situation, the energy crisis, and the strain on the healthcare system are all examples of such crises.

After submitting his resignation to the Queen earlier today, Boris Johnson compared himself to “one of those booster rockets that has done its duty.” My plan now is to slowly re-enter Earth’s atmosphere and softly crash into the Pacific Ocean in some remote location.
