Roz, a model and activist, has dominated fashion in the ten years that she has resided in the country by working with brands like Swarovski, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, and Guess, among many others. But her greatest accomplishment was the one that began the whole thing. In her early career, she broke down barriers by becoming the first Saudi Arabian model to appear in front of the camera without wearing the conventional headscarf and abaya.
In addition to her track record as a fashion trendsetter, Roz has more than 14 million social media followers and, more recently, she unveiled her very own line of clean and sustainable beauty palettes. Roz took the time to speak with Modern Luxury after another prosperous year to discuss remaining devoted to her audience, her approach to fashion, and her happiest professional accomplishment.
Despite being introduced in the summer, the palettes have neutral hues, and a variety of colours can be used throughout the winter, particularly during all the holiday events.
How can you maintain your energy levels throughout the day when the days are becoming shorter and the sun sets earlier?
Every day at around 8:00 a.m., I get out of bed and drink coffee. Every day I work out in the morning to keep myself inspired throughout the day.
On social media, you have more than 14 million fans. What methods did you use to build a rapport with your audience?
I regularly respond to inquiries from my fans, and I absolutely think of all of my fans as family.
You’ve collaborated with fashion houses including Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, and BVLGARI. Which fashion trends do you anticipate being popular in 2023?
I always strive to start my own trends and dress whatsoever makes me feel good. I make an effort to be different and distinctive in everything I wear, but at the end of the day, what matters is feeling your best. The best fashion trend is to dress how you feel.
You actually operate your own business if you don’t have an agent or manager. How do you balance everything?
I’ve built a solid team around me, and I get along well with everyone, so we can all work together to accomplish our goals.
What guidance do you offer for anyone else aspiring to be a trailblazer, business owner, or influential figure in their industry?
Stay true to yourself and avoid emulating others. Keep your attention on yourself, stay in touch with your fans, and always practise humility.
What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
I was able to pave the way for other Saudi women to pursue their professional goals. I’m happy that I was able to develop both myself and my work while remaining loyal to who I am.
