When tragedy strikes, what determines the future is how we respond to it.
We may not be able to control what happened, but we have a choice in how we pick up the pieces.
For Maxime Pierre, it was never an option allowing his dreams of success to crumble in the face of adversity.
Max had a promising future in European football. At 15 he signed a contract with a major club and was looking forward to a world of possibilities.
But within months, Max suffered a knee injury requiring months in therapy.
Doctors then cleared him to play, but Max suffered a repeat of the same injury after his third game back. Surgeries followed, but a blood infection immobilised his injured knee. Confined to a wheelchair, he was told he’d have to fight to walk again.
Max’s football dreams were over. “At 17, taking that news is very hard psychologically,” he said.
“I went into depression and had anxiety attacks.”
Refusing to accept his fate, Max let his complex emotions fuel him to discover a new path.
He explored sales and marketing opportunities, and through determination and perseverance Max built a network of over 30,000 customers and partners worldwide.
Instead of finding success in football, he saw a new opportunity and found the life that was calling him.
Now an established entrepreneur, Max spends much of his time sharing the secrets of his success with others looking to follow in his footsteps.
Patience is everything, said Max. He explained: “Success comes in its own time – it can’t be rushed. You must embrace the learning process. With patience, you work to become ready for the success to manifest.
“I’ve had to go through a lot to get here. It’s not easy. It’s not easy for anyone, but it is worth it.
“I worked harder than everyone else, and that’s what got me to this point. No secrets or shortcuts, just working hard to overcome obstacles and focus on success.”
