The Icon Award will be given to 17-time AMA winner Lionel Richie in recognition of his professional achievements in the music business. In tribute performances for Richie, Charlie Puth, Stevie Wonder, and other performers will take the stage.
Dan & Shay, Dustin Lynch, Ellie Goulding, Jimmie Allen, Karrueche Tran, Kelly Rowland, Latto, Meghan Trainor, Melissa Etheridge, Niecy Nash-Betts, Roselyn Sanchez, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Smokey Robinson, and others are expected to make appearances.
As of the event’s nominations, Bad Bunny is in the lead. Bad Bunny would tie Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most accolades in a single year, according to the programme, which is produced by dick clark productions and ABC, if he ended up winning in every category for which he was nominated.
While Adele, Harry Styles, and The Weeknd each have five nominations, Beyoncé, Drake, and Taylor Swift each have six.
