Pastor Travis Hearn knows the feeling of being on the wrong path in life. He has experienced hard times when it seems like life is against him. It’s why he created Impact Church– so he could help others get on the right paths.
Impact Church is located in Scottsdale, Arizona, where Travis Hearn is the senior pastor. While located in Arizona, members can watch Travis Hearn’s sermons online over a live stream. Scripture is taken seriously, but Pastor Travis Hearn can be found preaching in jeans and a hoodie. He’s relatable and down to earth, but passionate and enthusiastic in his sermons. The church offers worship groups for youth, adults, people in recovery, couples, and more. There’s a ministry group for everyone at Impact Church; everyone has a place there.
It’s that feeling of belonging we all need sometimes. Life can be tumultuous and demanding. Having a church to be part of can be empowering. “True power… life-changing, explosive power, comes from God,” Travis Hearn says. He knows well how important it is to connect with God, as Hearn was following a destructive path early in his life. Travis Hearn was interested in partying as a teenager, but when he found himself arrested and jailed, he knew he needed to make a change. A devout Christian herself, his mother had picked him up from jail that day; it pained Travis to see the look on his mother’s face.
“The unique thing about my story is that I was the least likely [to become a pastor]. I was trouble. Since that day, I did a literal 180.” Hearn says. He turned to God and never looked back. Because Hearn was so interested in sports as a young person, he had many connections to professional athletes. He started hosting bible studies for the Arizona Cardinals and working as a chaplain for Major League Baseball, the NFL, and the NBA. His bible studies grew larger and larger until he eventually took over a small church, and then started Impact Church. Today, local celebrities, athletes, and other influencers are commonplace at Impact Church.
“God has allowed me the ability to influence the influencers. If I can help somebody that has influence, I can maximize my impact. People with great influence are still human. They go through trials and tribulations just like anybody else. They have hearts and hurts just like all of us. My heart is to be a difference maker.” Hearn says. He wants to be a “difference-maker” for many people. He sums up his church’s mission and goal by referencing Paul: “Pour out your life like a drink offering. Everything God has given, we’re just trying to give it away, so that hopefully it helps people.”
Travis Hearn’s goal to help people is coming to fruition. Impact Church now has over 15,000 members both locally and abroad and they’re growing. It’s for the best, as Travis Hearn can help members live a fulfilling life that’s aligned with their beliefs: “We believe the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.”
