Dua Lipa has said that she will not perform at the World Cup and has urged Qatar to uphold its commitments to human rights before inviting her to the country.
Dua Lipa, a singer and songwriter, has replied to rumours that she may play at the World Cup by saying she won’t go there unless it honours its commitments to human rights.
The Grammy Award-winning musician had been mentioned as possibly performing at Qatar 2022’s opening ceremony, however she has already dismissed those rumours on social media.
The singer, who was born in London, stated in an Instagram story that there is a lot of talk that she may perform during the World Cup opening ceremony in Qatar. I have not performed, and I have not entered into any negotiations to do so. I will be following England’s progress online and am eager to visit Qatar once it has complied with all of the commitments it made to uphold human rights when it was awarded the privilege to host the World Cup. Dua, one love.
Prior to the Real Madrid vs. Liverpool 2018 Champions League final, Dua Lipa gave a performance in Kyiv.
Despite the fact that she wore white on that particular day, she has previously expressed support for Liverpool by calling herself “an honorary supporter” of the Reds.
She stated in 2020, “I suppose I would be getting in a lot of trouble if I declared that I solely support Liverpool. My dad and brother prefer Arsenal.”
But Liverpool has a special place in my heart and I love it.
