Fans of the Netflix show Stranger Things were very happy with how actor Joseph Quinn played Eddie Munson in the show’s fourth season. The guitar solo that the actor played in the episode, which was a cover of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets,” was a big part of why people were talking about the show and why it was so popular. Metallica said it was one of his best performances, so the actor recently joined the band backstage at Lollapalooza.
In a video that was posted by Netflix hours before Metallica went on stage at the music festival, they met the British actor. During season four of the Netflix sci-fi show, Eddie Munson, played by the actor, has brought a lot of attention to the band’s 1986 classic Master of Puppets.
In the video, Metallica singer James Hetfield talks to Quinn about how much he likes the show. Additionally, he adds, “I adore everything about ‘Stranger Things’.” beginning with the first season. It’s a great way for my kids and I to get to know each other better.” Quinn also talked to the band about how important it was for him to learn the song before he played it in the show “I hadn’t heard anything else in the past two years. I feel like I know each of you really well.”
The video also showed Quinn playing with the band during a jam session while they played the same song. Joseph was seen playing the hard song with guitarist Kirk Hammett and singer Hetfield, while drummer Lars Ulrich provided the beat. Ulrich joked afterward, “We’d like to let you all know that Metallica is now a five-piece, guys.” People, we’d like to let you know that Metallica is now a five-piece band. Hammett told the actor, “You’re hired” after he saw him play guitar in Stranger Things and was impressed. The actor’s skills on the show also impressed Hammett.
