Ryan Reynolds recently startled the internet with an Instagram post in which he showed a footage of his recent colposcopy. The actor found out he had a polyp on his colon during his first colonoscopy. In order to promote cancer screening, Ryan recorded himself going through the entire process.
Ryan lost a bet to Rob McElhenney, the co-chairman of his Welsh football side Wrexham AFC. After the loss, Rob persuaded Ryan to record and broadcast a video of his colonoscopy online, which turned out to be a “life-saving” opportunity for the actor. In Reynolds’ video, Ryan can be heard chit-chatting to the camera before surgery, saying, “I do regular TV appearances. However, the first time was when someone rammed it up my a**.”
According to the actor’s own words in the video, “the preparation and operation were painless, but the discomfort of shooting and publicising the procedure was the worst part.” The doctor explains that during the diagnostic process, a little polyp was located on the patient’s colon and removed.
Ryan went on to write that in his piece, “we wish to see less obscurity and stigmatisation” surrounding this life-saving procedure. Reynolds’s online community rallied behind the post he made, and many people offered words of support in the comments section. Red Notice co-star Gal Gadot simply commented, “Amazing Ryan.”
